=>India’s first long-range hypersonic missile: India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight-tested a long-range hypersonic missile off the coast of Odisha on Sunday (November 17, 2024).the missile can carry various payloads for ranges greater than 1,500 km for the Armed Forces. It has been indigenously developed by laboratories of the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex, Hyderabad, along with various other DRDO labs and industry partners.
=>Tata-Airbus C-295 facility launch: India’s first privately built military aircraft will transform defence capabilities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez inaugurated the Tata Advanced Systems Limited’s (TASL) new C-295 aircraft manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat. The facility is India’s first private-sector Final Assembly Line (FAL) for military aircraft, marking a significant milestone in the country’s pursuit of defence self-reliance.
=>'Abhedya': The Indian Navy’s maiden nuclear, biological and chemical training facility, named Abhedya meaning impenetrable, was inaugurated in Lonavla.
The facility, initiated in 2016 and executed by the Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) will provide realistic training to naval personnel in detection, protection against and decontamination of nuclear, biological and chemical agents.

=>1st test of MIRV-equipped Agni-V: That was the first successful flight test of an Agni-V ballistic missile carrying multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicles (MIRVs). The PM congratulated scientists at the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) for the flight test, named Mission Divyastra, which was carried out from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha. It had successfully tested a new Agni-5 missile capable of carrying multiple warheads and striking multiple targets. The most important thing about this new missile is its integration with what is known as the MIRV technology.
MIRV (Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle) technology is the capability that allows multiple warheads to be loaded on a single missile delivery system and programmed to hit different targets, thus greatly enhancing the missile’s destructive potential.
The development of MIRV capability marks a significant upgrade for India’s missile systems, and expands its nuclear options.
