=>Kerala declared state microbe: In January 2026, Kerala became the first Indian state to declare an official "State Microbe," selecting Bacillus subtilis to promote scientific awareness, biotechnology, and biodiversity. As a non-pathogenic, probiotic soil bacterium, B. subtilis is widely used in agriculture, food, and health sectors due to its beneficial properties.
