Indian Geography
· Northern-most Indian point: Indira Col. The Indira Col is a col
on the Indira Ridge in the Siachen Muztagh in the Karakoram Range. It is within
3 km of Sia Kangri to the west, the summit of which is the tripoint where
territories controlled by India, Pakistan, and China meet.
· Southern-most Indian point: (on mainland) Kanyakumari, a coastal town in the
state of Tamil Nadu is the southernmost point. If you consider only
mainland of India without its islands. However, the southernmost point of the
Indian mainland is 8.06890°N 77.55230°E
· Southern-most Indian point: (Including Indian Island) Indira Point, which is 876 km from
Equator, earlier it was known as Pygmalion
Point or Parson’s Point.
· Eastern-most Indian point: Easternmost Point –
The town of Kibithu in Arunachal Pradesh is the easternmost
point of India. The Lohit River enters India from Kibithu.
· Western-most Indian Point: Westernmost Point-westernmost point
of India is the small inhabited village of Ghuar Moti, located in the
Kutch District of Gujarat.
· Length of Landline of India:
· Coastline: 7516.6 k.m. (in terms of length of coastline, Gujrat
has it longest, followed by Andhra Pradesh)
· Tropic of cancer: Tropic of Cancer is
the imaginary line at 23.50° degrees North of the Equator.
In India Tropic of Cancer passes through 8 states.
Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal,
Tripura and Mizoram.
· Indian Standard of Time(IST): Without an IST, India w’d have 2 time
zones. But, at
Naini in Mirzapur Distt. in UP has been taken as IST. The 82˚5' E
longitude is taken as the Standard Time Meridian of India or reference letters
longitude for IST , as it passes through the middle of
India (in Mirzapur, near Allahabad). Indian Standard
Meridian (82˚30'E meridian) passes through UP, MP, Chhatisgarh,
Orissa and Andhra Pradesh

Group:
The Andaman Islands are
an Indian archipelago in the Bay of Bengal. These roughly 300 islands are known
for their palm-lined, white-sand beaches, mangroves and tropical rainforests.
Coral reefs supporting marine life such as sharks and rays make for popular
diving and snorkeling sites. Indigenous Andaman Islanders inhabit the more
remote islands, many of which are off-limits to visitors.

·The Aravali Mountain Range: It is a residual Mountain System. It is the oldest Fold mountain Range, some 700 K. m. (from Delhi to Ahmadabad). Its Highest peak is Gurushikhar(in Mt. Abu), near Udaipur. Mount Abu can boast of its Solar System, established by “Brahmkumaris”. In spring 2017 the Brahma Kumaris and WRST completed the design, development and installation of India OneAnother attraction on Mt. Abu is Dilwara Jain Temple.
·Western Ghat Or Sahyadri Range: The Western Ghats have many peaks that rise above 2,000 meters, with Anamudi (2,695 m (8,842 ft)) being the highest peak. The famous tourist place “OOTI” is in Nilgiri ( Tamil Nadu).
