  • World Zoonoses Day:  July 06,  World Zoonoses Day is observed every year on July 6 to commemorate the first vaccination administered against a zoonotic disease like Ebola, Avian influenza, and West Nile virus. Zoonosis is an infectious disease that spread from non-human animals to humans. Zoonotic pathogens can be bacterial, viral, or parasitic which can spread to humans through direct contact or through food, water, or the environment. For example, Coronavirus spread from bats to humans, and we already have witnessed how it can create a major public health problem around the world.

  • American independence day: 04 July, is the birthday of the United States of America. It is observed as a federal holiday commemorating the USA Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. The day is special because it marks the time when the United States of America gained independence from Great Britain.

  • International Day of Family Remittances: on 16 June, the International Day of Family Remittances (IDFR) is observed., adopted by UN General Assembly, this day has been created to recognize the contribution of as many as 200 million migrant workers who send money to their family members, the number of which is as high as 800 million.

  • World Wind Day: 15 June. World Wind Day or Global Wind Day is a worldwide event that is held every year on June 15.  June 14, the birthday anniversary of Karl Landsteiner is commemorated as World Blood Donor Day. The World Health Organization (WHO) initiated and declared this day on June 14, 2004. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies was founded with the goal of spreading global knowledge regarding the importance of safe blood donation by healthy people.

  • World Pest Day OR World Pest Awareness Day: 06 June, The day is dedicated to spread awareness of pest management and its benefits to preserve the quality of life for people and plants around us.

  • World Tumor Day: 08 June, World Brain Tumor Day is observed on June 8 every year with the objective of spreading awareness and educating people about the same. Recurrent headaches accompanied with vomiting is one of the first symptoms of a brain tumor. 

  • World Ocean Day:  08 June, World Ocean Day is an international day that takes place annually on 8 June. The concept was originally proposed in 1992 by Canada's International Centre for Ocean Development (ICOD) and the Ocean Institute of Canada (OIC) at the Earth Summit – UN Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

  • World Environment Day: 05 June, World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated annually on 5 June and is the United Nations' principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment.   • World Milk Day:  01 June, Every year, World Milk Day is celebrated on the 1 st of June. This day was established by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations to recognize the significance of milk as a global food. The day is celebrated to bring attention to all the activities that are related to the milk industry.
  • It should be noted that India has its National Milk day on the 26th of November.

  • World Coral Reef Awareness Day: 01 June, serves as a call to action for consumers, businesses and organizations to reflect on the delicate ecosystem of our ocean’s coral reefs. The day brings together the general public, influencers and opinion leaders to create active change through education and engagement.

  • World Parents Day: 01 June, Parents' Day is observed in South Korea (May 8) and in the United States (fourth Sunday of July). The South Korean designation was established in 1973, replacing Mother's Day previously marked on May 8 and includes public and private celebrations. The United Nations proclaimed June 1 to be the Global Day of Parents "to appreciate all parents in all parts of the world

  • National Hindi Journalism Day: 30 May, on this day, in  1826, the first Hindi newspaper of India called Udant Martand was edited and published from Kolkata by Jugal Kishor Shukla in Kolkata. With this, Hindi Journalism completed its 187 years in India.

  • International Day of UN peacekeepers: 29 May, The International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, 29 May, offers a chance to pay tribute to the uniformed and civilian personnel’s invaluable contribution to the work of the Organization and to honor more than 400 Peacekeepers who lost their lives serving under the UN flag since 1948

The UN Member States approved Slovenia’s proposal to proclaim 20 May as World Bee Day in December 2017

The IMD provides the opportunity for museum professionals to meet the public and alert them as to the challenges that museums face.

  • World Hypertension Day: 17 May,  World Hypertension Day is celebrated every year on the 17th of May to raise public awareness about hypertension, its preventive measures and complications. It was first celebrated on 14th of May in the year 2005 organized by the World Hypertension League (WHL).

  • 6th The UNO's Road Safety Week 6th UN Global Road Safety Week focuses on Streets for Life: #Love30. Low-speed streets save lives and are the heart of any community. 30 km/h (20 mph) speed limits where people and traffic mix make for streets that are healthy, green and liveable, in other words, streets for life.

  • World Telecommunication and Information Society Day: has been celebrated all around the world every year on the 17th of May, since 1969, it marks the founding of ITU and the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention in 1865

  • National Dengue Day:16 May. National Dengue Day is observed in India on May 16 with the recommendation of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India to create awareness about dengue, and to intensify preventive measures and preparedness for the control of disease in the country before transmission season starts

  •  International Light Day: 16 May,  each year, the anniversary of the first successful operation of the laser in 1960 by physicist and engineer, Theodore Maiman. This day is a call to strengthen scientific cooperation and harness its potential to foster peace and sustainable development.

  • World Family Day: 15 May.                                         

  • The International Migratory Bird Day: 08 May,  World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) is bi-annually observed across the world on the 2nd Saturday in May and in October. The day aims to create awareness about the importance of the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats. 

  • International Nurses Day: 12 May. International Nurses Day (IND) is an international day observed around the world on 12 May (the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth) of each year, to mark the contributions that nurses make to society.

  • National Technology Day: 11 May,  National Technology Day is an annual celebration observed on May 11. It acts as a reminder of India's technological advancements. This day also marks the anniversary of the Pokhran nuclear tests of 1998 as the country successfully tested its Shakti-I nuclear missile at the Indian Army's Test range in Rajasthan

  • World Thalassemia Day: 08 May. In the year 1994, the Thalassemia International Federation established May 8 as International Thalassemia Day. The day was declared an International observance in the loving memory of George Englezos and all thalassemia patients who fought the disease and while confronting the social stigma attached to it achieved both personal and professional success in life

  • Gurudev Ravindra Nath Tagore Anniversary: 07 May.
  • World athletics Day: 05 May,  World Athletics Day was celebrated for the first time in 1996. In the year 2019-2020;   World Athletics Day is celebrated on 7 May. The date of World Athletics Day is decided by the IAAF. In the year 2006, the participants of this day were between the age of 7 to 15 years but later on this age gap was made to 13 to 17 years.

  • International No Diet Day" 06 May,   International No Diet Day is an annual celebration of body acceptance, including fat acceptance and body shape diversity. This day is also dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle with a focus on health at any size and in raising awareness of the potential dangers of dieting and the unlikelihood of success; the Institute of Medicine summarises: "those who complete weight loss programs lose approximately 10 percent of their body weight only to regain two-thirds within a year.

  • Vishu Festival celebrated in Kerala: Vishu is a Hindu festival celebrated in the Indian state of Kerala, Tulu Nadu region in Karnataka, Mahé district of Union Territory of Pondicherry, neighbouring areas of Tamil Nadu and their diaspora communities. The festival marks the first day of Medam, the ninth month in the solar calendar followed in Kerala. It therefore always falls in the middle of April in the Gregorian calendar on 14th or 15th April every year.

  • World Parkinson Disease Day: 11 April  

         World Parkinson’s Disease Day is celebrated every year on the 11th of April, the birth anniversary of Dr. James Parkinson. He is an English physician who first described this neurological disorder way back in 1817 in one of his research papers titled ‘An Essay on the Shaking Palsy.


  • .National Safe Motherhood Day: 11April. 

      National Safe Motherhood Day is observed on April 11 every year. It is an initiative of the White Ribbon Alliance India (WRAI). The government of India in 2003 declared the national safe motherhood day on April 11. It is observed to enforce that women must have the availability and adequate access to care during pregnancy childbirth and postnatal services.

       India is one of the most high-risk places in the world to give birth, accounting for 12% of total maternal deaths worldwide. Most maternal deaths are preventable. If women access healthcare solutions to prevent or manage complications. All women need to be aware of care in pregnancy, and during and after childbirth.

  • Vaccination Week: India celebrated it between 11 April to 14 April.

  • Homeopathy Day: Celebrated on 10 April, a philosophy that the practice of homeopathy has religiously followed. On April 10, the world celebrates and honors homeopathy for its contribution to medicine and treatment of people in the form of World Homeopathy Day. In addition, the day also pays tribute to Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the father of homeopathy.

  • World Health Day: 07 April, which marks the anniversary of the founding of WTO in 1948, note it that  The World Health Organization headquarters are located in Geneva, which is the largest city in Switzerland. The WHO building is located at the end of Avenue Appia, three kilometers from the town center and about one and a half kilometers from the Palais des Nations, which is home to the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG).

  • World Sports Day: April 6 is the United Nations’ (UN) International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, which recognizes the power of sport in promoting peace and erasing cultural barriers worldwide. Sport is a positive way of achieving goodwill, healthy competition and cooperation across all cultures.

  • Tulip Festival: started in "Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden" in Srinagar. Note that Srinagar lies on the bank of  "the Jhelum" river.

  • National Productivity Day: 12 February,  The National Productivity Day is annually observed across India on 12th February to create awareness about productivity, that maximum output with optimum utilization of resources can be planned and achieved. The day is organized by the National Productivity Council, National Productivity Council under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Government of India is a premier institution for propagating productivity movement in India.
  • National Women's Day: celebrated in India on 13 February, The day holds great importance in India’s history. It is celebrated to recognize the powerful voices of women. National Women’s day is celebrated on Sarojini Naidu's birthday.    It should be noted that International Women's day: is celebrated on 8th March.
  • Samarpan Diwas: 11 February, the Samarpan Diwas is the death anniversary of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, he was the president of Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS). Apart from politics he also contributes to Indian literature. Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) is the forerunner of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He is a revered icon of Integral Humanism, an ideologue, and a guiding force for an alternative model of governance and politics.

    Deendayal Upadhyaya (25 September 1916 – 11 February 1968) was one of the leading Indian philosopher, economist, sociologist, historian, journalist, and political scientist gave the concept and developed the doctrine of integral humanism. To spread Hindutva idealogy he started the monthly publication Rashtra Dharma in the 1940s, while involved with the RSS. Integral humanism was a set of concepts drafted by Upadhyaya as a political program and adopted in 1965 as the official doctrine of the Jan Sangh

  • Float Festival: Float Festival is one of the main festivals celebrated in Madurai. It takes place on the full moon night of the Tamil month, Thai, which falls between mid-January and mid-February. The concept of the festival dates back to the 17th century, when it was celebrated for the first time by King Thirumalai Nayak. He constructed an artificial tank and then, built a temple of Lord Vigneswara on the island in the middle. He started the custom of taking the idols for a boat ride in the tank, on his birthday. This is how the Float festival came into existence.

  • "Savitribai Phule Anniversary": 03 January, Savitribai Phule was an Indian social reformer, educationalist, and poet from Maharashtra. She is regarded as the first female teacher of India.
