- Shrinagar has been chosen as: "Creative City' by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), among 49 cities as part of the creative city network under the Crafts and Folk Arts category.
- The inclusion is likely to pave way for the city to represent its handicrafts on the global stage through UNESCO.
- The UCC network involves folk art, media, film, literature, design, gastronomy and media arts.
- Only Jaipur (Crafts and Folk Arts) in 2015, Varanasi and Chennai (Creative city of Music) in 2015 and 2017 respectively have so far been recognised as members of the UCCN for creative cities.

- Kakatiya Rudreshwara Temple(Ramappa),
situated in Telangana is inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Thus, making a total of 39 sites on
this list. The iconic Ramappa Temple showcases the outstanding craftsmanship of the great Kakatiya dynasty. Ramappa Temple, a 13th-century engineering marvel named after its architect, Ramappa, was proposed by the government as its only nomination for the UNESCO World Heritage site tag for the year 2019.
The temple complexes of Kakatiyas have a distinct style, technology and decoration exhibiting the influence of the Kakatiyan sculptor.
The temple stands on a six feet high star-shaped platform with walls, pillars and ceilings.
That made the 39th Indian Site on the list, Recently, another site, viz. Dholavira (A Harrapa Era site) also carved its niche in the list, hence a total of 40 sites have been included in the list (up to the end of July 2021)
