Space & Technology 2025

Space & Technology 2025

=>"Robot Judge": In light of the growing backlog of cases before the court, India may resort to the use of Robotic Judges. Estonia was the first country to use robot judges; then, China followed suit, and now India will take the same path.

=>Project 'Netra': Project NETRA (Network for Space Object Tracking and Analysis) is an Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) initiative to create an indigenous early warning system for space debris and hazards, ensuring the safety of Indian satellitesIt involves a network of observational facilities, including radars and telescopes, along with data processing units and a control center in Bangalore, to detect, track, and analyze objects in space. Project NETRA aims to enhance India's Space Situational Awareness (SSA), reduce dependence on other nations for such data, and safeguard its growing fleet of satellites.

=>Pratush Telescope: Moon-based instruments have a better chance of spotting a weak signal from the universe’s Dark Ages.. PRATUSH is a radio telescope designed to be placed on the far side of the moon. It is built by Raman Research Institute (RRI), Bengaluru and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

Probing ReionizATion of the Universe using Signal from Hydrogen (PRATUSH) is a radio telescope to be sited on the moon’s far side.

It is built by the Raman Research Institute (RRI) in Bengaluru with active collaboration from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

PRATUSH will carry a wideband frequency-independent antenna, operating over the frequency band 30-250 MHz, a self-calibratable analog receiver, and a digital correlator with high spectral resolution.

The observing strategy of PRATUSH will be to continually observe large sky regions, and recording spectra of the beam-averaged radio emission with a high spectral resolution of 100 kHz.

The nominal lifetime of the payload will be two years for achieving high signal-to-noise ratio with sufficient sky-coverage.... Read more at: https://vajiramandravi.com/current-affairs/pratush-telescope/

=>Bhartiya Antariksha Station: ISRO Unveils Model Of Bharatiya Antariksh Station.

India plans to launch the first module of the BAS, its own home-built space station, by 2028, marking its entry into the group of a handful of nations that operate orbital laboratories.

=>India's maiden Chip: India unveiled its first 'Made in Bharat' semiconductor chip Vikram-3201. The new processor was presented to PM Modi by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at Semicon India 2025 event in New Delhi. Let's explore more about the first Made in India 32-bit microprocessor.

=>ISRO missions:

=>India to build its own Polar Research Vessel: Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Mr. Sarbananda Sonowal, witnessed a key MoU signing between Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE), Kolkata, and Norway's Kongsberg Oslo to build India's first indigenous Polar Research Vessel (PRV).

=>Bharat forecasting System: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is set to adopt the indigenously developed Bharat Forecast System (BFS), India’s first high-resolution weather model capable of forecasting at a 6 km x 6 km spatial resolution.

  • Bharat Forecast System (BFS) has been developed by the
Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, and will be operationalised by IMD.
  • BFS significantly improves upon IMD’s existing resolution of
12 km x 12 km, allowing for more accurate detection of localised extreme weather events, such as cloudbursts and flash floods.
  • The current limitation of a 144 sq km unit of analysis will be reduced to
36 sq km, enabling better micro-level weather predictions.
  • The BFS model is expected to enhance forecasting precision for
cyclones, heavy rainfall, and monsoon variability, especially at the district and sub-district levels.

=>AI Kosh launched: The Union government on Thursday (March 6, 2025) launched AI Kosha, a platform with datasets, that is being touted as a home for non-personal data that will assist with developing Artificial Intelligence models and tools. At launch, the platform contains 316 datasets, the bulk of these being programme to help in creating or validating language translation tools for Indian languages.

The IndiaAI Datasets Platform is one of the seven pillars of the IndiaAI Mission, the Union government’s main general State-backed AI effort. The Mission has an outlay of ₹10,370 crore, and last month the Centre announced that under its Compute Capacity pillar, startups and academia would be able to use pooled access to Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), which are needed to train and run AI models.

=>Water fly technology: It is a technology for sea gliders that are meant to take off from water bodies and fly at an altitude of about four meters and can fly up to 150 meters

Waterfly Technologies, a startup incubated at IIT-Madras, is developing electric sea gliders as an alternative form of travel to traditional airplanes and ferries. The designs which were recently showcased at Aero India 2025 in Bengaluru caught the attention of Mahindra Group chairman, Anand Mahindra on X

=>ISRO made its 100th rocket launch: ISRO successfully launches NVS-02 satellite; creates history with the 100th launch from Sriharikota

The GSLV-F15 with the NVS-02 satellite lifted off from the spaceport’s second launch pad at 6.23 a.m.

=>India successfully conducts historic space-docking test: Indian space agency Isro has for the first time successfully conducted space docking by joining together two small craft in space.

The mission called SpaDeX blasted off from Sriharikota launch pad in southern India on 30 December. The two spacecraft, launched on a single rocket, separated in space. The docking process, initially scheduled for 7 January, was rescheduled a number of times.

On Thursday morning, the space agency announced that it had created history by becoming only the fourth country in the world with such technology after United States, Russia and China

=>In A First, Life Sprouts On ISRO's Space Lab: Cowpea seeds sent on the PS4-Orbital Experiment Module as part of the SpaDeX mission have germinated. Cowpea seeds sent on the PS4-Orbital Experiment Module (POEM), or the Bharatiya Space Lab, have germinated in the near zero-gravity and enclosed surroundings of space - and leaves are also expected to grow soon.

This experiment was part of the SpaDeX or space docking experiment launched on December 30, 2024, using the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).
