=>Global Cybercrime Index 2024: 

• India ranked number 10 in cybercrimes, with frauds involving people making advance fee payments being the most common type, according to new research that surveyed cybercrime experts around the world.

• An international team of researchers has compiled the ‘World Cybercrime Index’ that ranks roughly 100 countries and identifies key hotspots according to various categories of cybercrime, including ransomware, credit card theft and scams.

• The Index shows that a relatively small number of countries house the greatest cybercriminal threat. 

• Russia tops the list, followed by Ukraine, China, the USA, Nigeria, and Romania. The UK comes in at number eight. Brazil is at the ninth position, according to the research published in the journal PLoS ONE.

• The World Cybercrime Index has been developed as a joint partnership between the University of Oxford and UNSW Canberra and has also been funded by CRIMGOV, a European Union-supported project based at the University of Oxford and Sciences Po.

=>First-Ever Nuclear Energy Summit: International leaders and government representatives from nations that are operating or interested in operating nuclear power plants adopted a Nuclear Energy Declaration on March 21 at the first-ever Nuclear Energy Summit, hosted by the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Belgian government in Brussels, Belgium.

With the declaration, more than 30 attendees committed their nations to “fully unlock” the potential of nuclear energy.

=>Green Nobel to an Indian: The 2024 Goldman Environmental Prize, also known as the Green Nobel will be awarded to Alok Shukla, convener of Chhattisgarh Bachao Andolan (CBA) on Monday, for his work to protect Hasdeo Arand, one of the largest contiguous stretches of very dense forest in central India spanning 170,000 hectares, with 23 coal blocks.

Alok Shukla led a successful community campaign that saved 445,000 acres of biodiversity-rich forests from 21 planned coal mines in Chhattisgarh

👉The 37th National Games 2023 concluded in Goa today. The grand closing ceremony took place at Shyama Prasad Indoor stadium in Panaji in the presence of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Indian Olympic Association President P T Usha, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and others.

The event which began on 26th October was formally inaugurated by Prime minister Shri Narendra Modi. Services Sport Control Board stood at second position in medal tally with a total of 126 medals including 66 Gold medals. While Haryana stood at third position with a total of 192 medals including 62 gold medals.

The torch for national games was handed over to Uttarakhand as 38th National Games will be organized there.

   Asian Para Games 2023

The 2022 Asian Para Games, also known as the 4th Asian Para Games and commonly known as the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games, was a multi-sport event that paralleled the 2022 Asian Games which was held for Asian athletes with disabilities in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China from 22 to 28 October 2023.

Indian para-athletes continued to shine at the fourth Asian Para Games in Hangzhou.

India finished the Asian Para Games 2023 with a best-ever medal tally of 111 medals - 29 gold, 31 silver and 51 bronze

👉Asian Games 2023: were organized in China, in the province of Hangzhou,  began on 23rd September and l went up till 8th October.  In the 19th edition of the sports tournament, 665 athletes from India  competed against top athletes from other nations in 39 sport. India grabbed a total of 107 medals, including 28 golds, In the previous tournament that was held in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2018, India won 70 medals, out of which 16 were gold, 23 were silver, and 31 were bronze medals.

PR Sreejesh, India's veteran hockey goalkeeper and a part of the gold medal-winning team at Hangzhou will be India's flag bearer at the closing ceremony. The Asian Games closing ceremony is underway at Olympic Sports Centre Stadium in Hangzhou.
